These darling Loeffler Randall ruffled flats just arrived this morning and they are are the perfect counterpart to Marc Jacobs' scribble satchel. Add some jeans and a white shirt and you'll be the best dressed Bostonian on Newbury Street this weekend!

Spotted: Birkin as Murse on Marc!

The most exciting thing  about New York is the fashion so when I'm there I really go into my "style-spotting" mode. I want to see what the kids are wearing and what new shops have popped up, "Oh look there's Topshop!" or "Those girls are really tall and skinny, they must be models!" I'm also totally on the lookout for celebrities, and Prince Harry who was also in town.

I hadn't had any sightings until I was on my way to the airport. It was a glorious morning so the window was down as my cab drove along Spring street. I regretted not getting up early enough for a fancy breakfast at Balthazar and as I looked out at the bright red and yellow awning my eyes turned to a guy walking down the block swinging a gleaming black Hermes Birkin, it was Marc Jacobs! I didn't have time for a photo, and then I thought perhaps it wasn't him, wouldn't he be holding an LV or something from his own line? But then I found this picture and knew I was right. I'm sure he has quite a collection because today he was toting a black 35cm with gold hardware. Also, he was wearing jeans.

Twist of Lime

The basis of this outfit is a lime and cobalt blue Marni skirt. From the left: Tuleh pleated blouse, navy Row tank, MJ bag ($39!) and Kate Spade sandals. It might not seem like the most logical color combination at first, but I kinda love it. A splash of color looks fresh this summer...don't be afraid of a bright shade!

Best Dressed at The Met

The glamour level at the Costume Institute's Annual Gala is comparable to that of the Academy Awards. The gowns were breathtaking, from mini and metallic to floor length elegance. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the bags and shoes either. For the fashion industry it is the biggest event of the year, and the theme of "Model as Muse" brought out some of our favorite designers, starlets, and of course, models. Consignment Reminder: Holiday Outifts

Now is the time to take a look in YOUR closet (before you get too busy with the holidays and all that buying for others) and see what doesn't belong. Here's a good rule: If you didn't wear it the past two seasons, you are probably not going to again.

With less than two months left of 2008, I also know you are not going to be wearing the same thing you did for last years festivities. Time to say goodbye and bring it to The Closet. It is always a pleasure to create new displays in the shop. We try to rearrange them as often as possible, as the merchandise changes daily. So even though The Closet decides what to accept and market, we can never plan exactly what we want in the store, yet there always seem to be a few underlying trends among the items. I know that clashing is a rule of fashion, but The Closet loves to match!
