LBD Award: Herve Leger

It is always hard to resist the perfect little black dress, this one especially! Combine vintage Herve Leger (from Bergdorf Goodman) and the brand's famed stretch fabric with a never fail nipped waist silhouette, cap sleeves, and delicate halter detail for the sexiest, most flattering mini dress we have seen in quite a while. Marked size L, but looks more like an XS to me!

Going to a Gala?

This Lanvin dress is an excellent choice for any black tie occasion, elegant and understated, yet so chic. From Alber Elbaz's Spring '04 collection, it can be worn as either a very long skirt or strapless gown (both options above). How modern! Best of all, you can find it at The Closet.

Rainbow Bright

Here is a really lovely Zac Posen dress from his Spring 2006 RTW collection. It came in this morning and it left a couple hours later in a pair of very worthy hands. She had seen it on the runway, in the magazines, and wished that one day it would be hers. Three years later...dreams really do come true!

Ports Please!

Ports Please

It didn't last long! One lucky regular snapped up Ports' frothy silk frock on Saturday, a mere day after its arrival. You should have seen the smile on her boy's face when she gave him a sneak peak!

Doo. Ri Dress!

Doo. Ri

Doo-Ri Chung is well known in the fashion world for her elegantly draped designs. You may recall she was the winner of the 2006 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award, however it is rare to see one of her creations here at The Closet. Until now! This dress is size 2 and has a delicate sash and beautiful bubble hem.

Madras

Vanessa Bruno

The 4th of July is fast approaching so it is time to think about what to wear. Think short, colorful, easy dresses you can take from the beach to a barbeque. I usually find myself in all black ensembles, but a long holiday weekend gives me the perfect excuse to lighten up. I love the Madras line from APC, it actually makes me want to wear plaid! I am also a big fan of this Vanessa Bruno mini dress/jumper in blue linen, her designs are so cool and simple. The Closet is the perfect place to find a festive outfit.

Just in:

Two gorgeous bias cut Jil Sander dresses. One is a lovely pale yellow, the other black. The best part...the liquid feeling fabric is 100% polyester, so it will not wrinkle! Who knew?!

The Last of Helmut Lang

IMG_1268

Here is a dress from the last collection Helmut Lang designed for his label. This dress was shown in white on the Spring/Summer 2005 runway. It is a very straight cut with some interesting braided detail. It is a light cotton which makes it perfect for warm weather. Luckily we don't have to abandon our black just because it is sunny and hot!

Donna Karan Signature

This is classic Donna Karan. The dress is so tiny I could barely fit it on the mannequin!

Oscar de la Renta Tweed Dress

Stunning Oscar De la Renta black and white tweed dress, size 4. This dress has just enough structure to provide a tailored and flattering fit, but it isn't too constricting to wear on a warm day. Thank you Mr. de la Renta! This is just the kind of treasure The Closet is known for, and I can't imagine it will be here for long. You just never know what you might find upon wandering into Boston's best consignment shop!

All That Glitters

We are big fans of Rozae Nichols at The Closet. I once owned a dress of hers, but I consigned it! What was I thinking?! We also had her pebble print dress from Spring 2007, still at Barneys, but it sold the same day it came in! The dress shown here is definitely one of my favorites. The inside layer is gold and creates this really gorgeous shimmer effect. The little black ribbon with silver detail on the side is a nice touch. This is a really beautiful dress.

3.1 Phillip Lim Frock

When this dress arrived, I knew I had seen it somewhere before (I think in Elle a few seasons ago)...It must be from one his earliest collections. I think it's obvious why he has risen so fast, as the cut (loose yet flattering), construction (silk lining), and fabric are perfectly right on. The bright floral pattern is a lovely choice for spring and the belt sits at the slimmest part of the waist.  If it was one size smaller (it's a 10) it would be going home with me!
