Only Ann

Summer is here and soon it will be too hot for a layer of leather. Lucky for us (or whoever takes this home) Ann Demeulemeester has designed a light weight version of the consummate rock chic motorcycle jacket. This piece blends rumpled yet elegant fabric (a cotton/rayon blend) with a glimmer of metallic thread, the sharpest cut shoulder, and loads of chunky zippers, it's a must!

In the Mix

Marni, Etro, Pierre Hardy

If you are like me and wear a lot of black, it's not that easy to just throw on the color come spring. I suggest starting with a shoe, or a printed top, add a pair of skinny black pants and your favorite black blazer. This way you don't look so boring, but you still feel like yourself.

A Modern Mary Poppins

Modern Mary Poppins

Spring is all about mixing fabric, proportion, color, and texture to create a unique look for yourself. Although we stuck to black and white this time, I think it was a success! Ms. Poppins wears a turban hat by Yamamoto, Ann Demeulemeester's cotton print tank, a Margiela ribbon cardigan, voluminous silk Lanvin skirt, and a pair of Costume National sandals. She is carrying a patent Armani bag, and she means business!

Chain Gang

You can't go wrong with black & white. From left: The Row's unconstructed silk jacket, so luxurious (and very small). Then a striped vest from Ann Demeulemeester, the black version atop a cream silk Row tank, and next some of their super skinny stretch cotton leggings (we have two pairs). Mix these together with a pair of ankle boots, a strappy sandal, or even a flat, and you are good to go!

Ann Demeulemeester Boots

Considering that the wardrobes choices reflected in the majority of even the most fashion conscious Bostonian's closet are comprised of a bland assortment of classic and preppy styles, it may come as a surprise that The Closet is consistently stocked with a pretty amazing selection of avant-garde European designers, Some of our more mainstream favorites include Yohji Yamamoto, Comme de Garcones, Jean Paul Gaulter, and of course Ann Demeulemeester, whose boots have a cult-like following.
