Spring Knits

I was inspired by the beautiful knits in Rodarte's Fall 2008 show when I chose these tops for display...from left to right: a sheer beaded top from John Galliano, Barbara Who's metallic cardigan, a sweet little cream jacket from Marlene Birger, Dior's super glam knit tank, and my personal favorite, Marc Jacob's take on Little Bo Peep for Louis Vuitton.

Cherry Red

Today is Ella Fitzgerald's birthday! So, since we play her music all the time here at The Closet, I am posting a picture of cherry red Christian Louboutins in honor of Ella and her song "Cherry Red." Cheers!

New Handbag Arrivals

Handbag season has arrived at The Closet! Just this morning we received a shiny new red Goyard (pictured above with a chalk white Proenza Schouler bomber) as well as charming black Bottega Veneta with woven handles. Later on in the afternoon a consignor dropped off a Louis Vuitton Ellipse backpack and a Petit Noe Epi satchel. Who knows what we will get tomorrow!

Lots of St. John at The Closet!
We have just received a wonderful consignment of St. John! There are a variety of knit pieces (jackets, suits, skirts, tops, and a perfect black dress) in a nice spring palette of pale blue, aqua, gray, black, and white, with some neat tweed pieces as well. The items are all small, ranging from a size 0 to a 4. Come check them out!

Pierre Hardy for Gap

I just received my most favorite new summer sandals from The Gap's "European Collection" by Pierre Hardy. I have been waiting for these to appear online for a while now, and when they did, I knew my search for the perfect gold gladiator sandal was over. They are divine. It is a rare occasion that one can walk for 30 minutes in a brand new pair of sandals, and feel NO PAIN, but I did! I can enjoy them even more knowing that they cost less than $80, but were designed by the creative director of Hermes!

Doo. Ri

Here is a gorgeous confection from Doo Ri's Spring 2007 collection...this silk jersey blouse with sheer sleeves and an embroidered collar arrived in the shop recently, only to be snatched up moments later, before I could even lay my hands on it or take a proper picture. I still couldn't resist teasing you all with a glimpse of the treasure to be had!

Her bag

I heard that Hermes discontinued the Her bag, but you can still find one from time to time at The Closet!

A&G Bag
So I took a look at the bag that I thought was Chrome Hearts, and it turns out it is made by A&G, whose style resembles Chrome Hearts quite a bit. I think this company was started by a former CH designer, but I can't find out anything about the brand online. However I know we have received some nice denim and cashmere pieces from this label in the past. Can anyone provide any info on A&G? Thanks! Also I will repost a picture of the bag later today.
There are some questions about the authenticity of an item in a recent post so I have removed it for the time being. I am not as familiar with the particular brand as I would like to be so I apologize for that. The Closet has a policy of not marketing fake items, and we are very careful with the merchandise we accept, but it looks like I was slacking on this one. Thanks for the heads up!
3.1 Phillip Lim Frock

When this dress arrived, I knew I had seen it somewhere before (I think in Elle a few seasons ago)...It must be from one his earliest collections. I think it's obvious why he has risen so fast, as the cut (loose yet flattering), construction (silk lining), and fabric are perfectly right on. The bright floral pattern is a lovely choice for spring and the belt sits at the slimmest part of the waist. If it was one size smaller (it's a 10) it would be going home with me!

Window Goodies

Just found this pic from a few weeks back...there are quite a few items in this display still available, including the Miu Miu, Kooba, and Balenciaga handbags hanging on top and the tan studded Sonia Rykiel, pink Dior, and straw Coach tote below.

Black & White

From a collection of Louis Vuitton noir epi handbags & wallets to the chalky Rick Owens leather jacket we received, black and white were the colors of the day. In fact, we have a Rick Owens slinky leather jacket in black as well, take your pick! One of my favorite new pieces was a black & white cropped jacket by Tibi with puff sleeves and the original tags intact. The Chanel Cambon tote in black quilted leather is also quite tempting, see above!

This Boot is Work!

A glamorous lady came into the store yesterday wearing a very exceptional pair of boots. Upon glancing at the scarlet red sole, I correctly took them to be Christian Louboutin, "on sale, most likely coming to you next year!" she laughed. The gray suede boots reached up her entire leg, already elongated by a 5 inch stiletto heel. I have no doubt our friend was the most stylish woman on Newbury Street that day, yet I couldn't help but wonder how she got them on! The New Yorker (imagine that) explained it all to me this evening:

Hermes Enamel Bracelet

Like new enamel bracelet in silver and palladium plated. This is the wide version and is currently selling on the Hermes website for $530...and they never go on sale, but remember there is always a sale at The Closet!

Chloe Bay Bag!

The Closet gets THE BEST bags of any consignment store I know...it's true that I am terribly bias being as I work for said store, but if anyone has seen these last few handbag posts, I think they will have a hard time disagreeing with me! Pictured above is a soft & slouchy taupe shoulder bag by Chloe, I'm guessing it is a season old at most, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are similar versions still in the stores.

The Closet is Boston's finest consignment clothing store for men and women, celebrating over 30 years in business. We are located at 175 Newbury Street between Dartmouth and Exeter.
The Closet accepts designer items (by appointment) that are no more than 1 or 2 years old (with some exceptions of course). Merchandise should be seasonal and in excellent condition. Our consignment period is 60 days, sales are split 50/50, and we mail out checks every month! We are a bit particular about what we accept, so please call 617.536.1919 with questions regarding consignment.
The items displayed may only be purchased in store as it is important to us that you are able to see the item in person. Sorry, but we don't ship!
